New Ebook By Sean McCartney Released

Former Washington General and young adult novelist Sean McCartney has announced his newest e-book has been released.

The book is titled Black Knight Chronicles: Rise of Evil and Sean describes it as as being in the tradition of Lord of the Rings and Eragon.

The book description according to Amazon is as follows...

After an era of war, peace finally comes to the Kingdom of Dacian. All is well until a fateful day in December when an evil wizard unleashes his ruthless assassins on a path of death and destruction. Now darkness has begun to envelope the land. In time, a young king will be tested and rival groups must come together to save the kingdom from annihilation.

...Defeat is Unimaginable.

Sean has currently published two young adult novels in his "The Treasure Hunters Club" series, and has said on the series Facebook group that the release date for the third should be out soon.

Washington Generals Top Players: Sean McCartney

Whether it is as a Washington General, a basketball coach, a teacher or a writer, Sean McCartney seemed destined to help entertain and mold young people.

Born in 1971 (the year the New Jersey Red's shocked the world!), Sean McCartney first started playing basketball at Glen Oak High school, before graduating and attending college at Alfred University in upstate New York. Where he also played basketball.

McCartney graduated from Alfred in 1993 with a bachelors in Communications. From there he was recruited to play for the Washington Generals and went on to play two seasons with the team. His second season was the last one the team played as the Generals before changing their name to the New York Nationals.

After completing his second tour with the team, Sean returned to Alfred where he earned his masters degree in Education and began to find his true calling as a teacher. The man who had pent two years helping the Globetrotters make kids laugh was now helping shape them for the future.

Sean became a teacher and for a while coached basketball at, ironically enough,Washington High School. He taught at Glenwood Middle School in Plain Township, OH and currently is employed at Plain Local Schools in Canton, OH.

But during his teaching career Sean turned to his other love, writing.

He began writing a series of books called the "Treasure Hunters Club". A young adult series about a teenage boy and his famous treasure hunting uncle. The books are considered a cross between Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys and Indiana Jones. The teams world travels are likely inspired by McCartney's own two years of traveling around the world himself as a General.

His first book, "Secrets of the Magical Medalions" came out in July of 2010, it was successful enough to warrant a second book in May 7th 2011, titled "Breaking the Beal Code".

Whether he is teaching kids in the classroom, or helping them discover the joys of reading as an author, Sean has spent most of his adult life in one way or another inspiring youngsters and helping them bring out their full potential. In that sense, he exemplifies some of the best things that a Washington General stands for.

Randomness Week 5

I found an excellent article on Washington General David Burch from Last January. While local media writing an article about their local boy being in the Generals, especially during their rookie year, is pretty much par for the course this one was especially good. CLICK HERE!

A blog called Dad of Divas' Reviews has reviewed former General Sean McCartney's book "Breaking the Beale Code". READ THE REVIEW HERE! and ORDER THE BOOK FROM AMAZON.COM HERE!

I can no longer find the article to link to, they apparently took it down. (if someone knows where it is please tell me) but FARK.COM had a hilarious headline listed, "Former Globetrotters sue team, Washington Generals hoping for jury duty".

A few weeks ago I did a post on Bill Spivey. I came across a list of his career highlights courtesy of APBR which details quite a bit of his history with many of the Harlem Globetrotters regular opponents, including the Generals. CLICK HERE TO READ THEM!

For anyone who didn't notice the tabs above now have a "Top Players" tab, which indexes my "Washington Generals Top Players" post. I will still post them on the main page with the blog entries, but thought I would give new viewers and people interested an easier way to find my old entries.

On a final, slightly unrelated note, Dizzy Grant of the Globetrotters (and formerly of the New York Nationals) posted a video on YouTube asking Shaq to come play for the Harlem Globetrotters. I doubt it would ever happen, that is a hell of a traveling schedule for him to take on right off the NBA for what I can only assume would be a lot less money. Never mind the fact he is not a young guy anymore. But I will say that I can't think of anyone in the NBA right now, or in his case just coming off the NBA, who would be a better fit for the Trotters than Shaquille O'Neal. Although for the Washington Generals sake they sure better hope he doesn't.

Former General's Second Book Coming Out Soon

I just wanted to inform everyone, especially any younger fans, that Book 2 of "The Treasure Hunter's Club" Series entitled "Breaking The Beale Code" will be out on May 7th. The Treasure Hunters Club is a series of books written by former Washington General Sean McCartney.

McCartney, now a school teacher is also the author of this exciting Young Adult series written for kids ages 8-14. The series details the adventures of treasure hunters Tommy and his Uncle Diamond Jack as they travel the world in search of riches. No doubt the two years McCartney spent traveling the globe against the globetrotters was an inspiration for the world adventures he now writes.
